CEREC Same-Day Crowns

Restore Your Teeth, Fast

Dental crowns are tooth-shaped caps attached over damaged or weakened teeth. They are fitted over an existing tooth to cover excessive discoloration, damages or to protect it from future damage, which is the case after a root canal. Dental crowns can also be attached over an implant to replace a missing tooth. In traditional restoration methods, the entire dental crown process takes at least two visits — the first session is for the impressions and preparation, and the second session is for the restoration.

Carlsbad Beach Dental, Drew Addy DDS, elevates the dental crown process and results to provide you with same-day and natural-looking CEREC crowns. Dr. Addy uses the latest dental technologies and techniques to provide access to cutting-edge treatments promising superior results and patient experience. To that end, CEREC same-day crowns allow him to complete the restoration in a single session — you walk into the clinic with a damaged or missing tooth and leave with a beautiful and natural-looking ceramic crown.

What are CEREC Same-Day Crowns?

CEREC is a groundbreaking and cutting-edge digital dental technology that allows us to construct beautiful all-ceramic dental crowns and restorations in a single visit. We produce natural-looking ceramic crowns that accurately resemble the shade, texture, and structure of your natural teeth, making them indistinguishable from your actual teeth. Furthermore, unlike traditional crown procedures, we can prepare crowns onsite using computer technology.

We use 3D scanning technologies to take an accurate impression of your teeth — no need for a traditional and uncomfortable dental mold. Following the impression, we use state-of-the-art digital CAD/CAM design software to design a ceramic crown according to your unique oral anatomy. Dr. Addy ensures the ceramic crown matches your surrounding teeth while elevating your overall symmetrical and aesthetic outlook.

CEREC Same-Day Crowns Benefits

Single Session

Traditional dental crowns involve at least two sessions — the impression-taking session and the restoration session. In the two weeks, it takes to prepare the dental crown, you have to wear temporary crowns that often look unnatural and unattractive. However, CEREC crowns are prepared on-site by the dentist with computer-aided design (CAD) and computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) — a process that takes around 20 minutes. There’s no need for a long wait or multiple sessions.

Natural Appearance

Traditional dental crowns are made of metal, resin, ceramic, porcelain, or porcelain-fused-to-metal. Metal crowns are obviously visible, porcelain-fused-to-metal crowns have a metallic sheen at the base, and resin crowns are often structurally weak. However, CEREC same-day crowns are made of ceramic, the most natural material for crowns.
Dr. Addy also gives it the same shade as your surrounding teeth, making it even more indistinguishable from your natural teeth.

Optimal Strength

Numerous studies and results have shown that CEREC same-day crowns are incredibly strong and resistant to abrasion. You can get reliable restorations that will last over a decade with proper maintenance. Their abrasion resistance ensures they retain their strength without compromise. According to research, they have a success rate similar to the best dental crowns.

CEREC Same-Day Crowns: Procedure

The CEREC same-day crown procedure is simple and straightforward. Like most dental treatments, the procedure starts with an initial consultation with Dr. Addy, wherein he carefully examines your dental structures, reviews your dental history, and discusses your cosmetic goals. He also outlines the entire dental crown preparation and restoration process. If he believes you’re a suitable candidate for CEREC crowns, he proceeds with the procedure.

With the digital camera, Dr. Addy takes images of the tooth needing the crown. He leverages the unique CAD/CAM technology to customize the ideal dental crown for your tooth. He aims to construct a crown that accurately matches the general symmetry, shape, and shade of your surrounding teeth while making the necessary adjustments to enhance your cosmetic outlook.

The machine accepts the digital model and instructions and starts processing a 3D ceramic crown, which usually takes 15 to 20 minutes. Once the dental crown is printed, Dr. Addy polishes it and makes final adjustments. Finally, he places the crown in the desired location over your affected tooth. He might have to make a few additional adjustments to ensure optimal occlusion and distribution of bite force.

You can then leave the dental clinic with a brand new tooth.
